Frequently Asked Questions
Where can i learn about Czech signalling?
We have more information about Czech signalling in the Liberec - Stará Paka Czech Signalling Guide.
How many tunnels and bridges are found on this route?
There are 8 tunnels with an overall length of 2421 meters and over 80 bridges of various sizes and lengths
What can you tell me about the Class 843?
Buckle up for a gas-guzzling ride through the Jizera mountains with the unique Class 843. This single-unit railcar was designed for rural passenger services throughout Czechia and have been in operation since 1995. Being a diesel railcar, passenger capacity is capped at the number of seats it contains… or is it? The 843 does not always operate alone, and can often be seen paired up with Class 043 (or Btn) coaches to form longer trains.
The Class 843 arrives in 2 variants, featuring traditional or LED headlights, and both it and its coaches come ready for service in 2 distinct liveries; blue & white, plus red & cream.
A variety of passenger services await, including semi-fast and all-stopping patterns, some of which can take the best part of 2 hours to traverse the route! Rest easy and enjoy the journey if you wish, as the 843 comes equipped with a robust cruise control system with easy implementation to pick any pace - just keep a watch out for speed limit changes!
How are different services labelled?
- R (Rychlík/Fast train) - stop only at the biggest stations
- Sp (Spěšný vlak/Local stopping train) - have a bit more stops, but don’t stop everywhere
- Os (Osobní vlak/Stopping train) - stop everywhere
What can you tell me about the Class 750?
Feast your eyes (and ears) on the iconic Class 750. Known as “Goggles” for its distinctive cyclops-like protruded cab windscreen, the Class 750 was built for the primary role of hauling freight, although passenger variants were also built. Do not adjust your screen, you are in fact seeing a total of 5x liveries depicting the loco in several notable schemes, including modern blue, classic red, and more.
With the Class 750, you’ll have much to learn as you navigate its spacious cab and squeeze through the accessible engine room. There’s no such comfort as cruise control here, operating the 750 is a classic hands-on experience.
What kind of freight services can I expect?
There are several types of freight services on the route, but the most involved are the Mn trains (Manipulační vlak/Manipulation train) which will keep you at your busiest. These trains gradually run their way up and down the line over the course of the day, picking up and dropping off wagons at each principal station, industry or yard. A full shift of these movements can take the entire day to complete, and include mainline running, drop offs, pick-ups and shunting! Also available are a series of Pn and NEx type freight services which offer the chance to run longer segments of the route without interruptions, aside from weaving around passenger services of course! Pn = Průběžný náklad/General freight train & NEx = Nákladní express/Freight express train
What's in a freight train formation?
Freight trains are made up of the following new and repurposed rolling stock; Eas, Zaes, Roos and Da-k wagons are new, Laaers & Habbiins are modified, Sggmrss are also included.
What will Timetable Mode be like?
In all, you can look forward to 59 services for the Class 843 with a further 44 for the Class 750, based on operations around 2018. Sharing a single-track route, services meet at stations where passing loops reside. Stay on time to keep things running smoothly.
Adding a bit of familiar flavour to the route, the DB BR 642 from Maintalbahn makes an appearance on a handful of services between Turnov and Železný Brod, as well as AI at Liberec! German motive power is certainly no stranger to Czech rails, and in this case, several ex-DB 642s which still retained their red livery for some time regularly ran along the route in 2018.
Does Liberec - Stará-Paka support announcements?
Yes, onboard announcements will be available.
Does Liberec - Stará-Paka support train faults?
Yes, the development team has implemented custom faults specific to these trains.
- For example, you may need to switch the signal frequency, as nearby power line interference can read as false signals.
- Applying power too quickly in the CD 843 can cause it to cut out, so you will need to reset the power controller to 0 and try again.
- If you hold the brake for too long in the CD 750, you can overcharge the brakes and need to reset them, otherwise they will be uncontrollable.
Will Liberec - Stará-Paka be available on Gen 8 consoles?
No, the Liberec - Stará-Paka route will only release on PC (Steam, Epic Games) and Gen 9 Console platforms (Xbox Series S/X and PlayStation 5).
Where can i find more information about the real life track?
