What is Compatible Content?

Compatible Content is also be known as DLC or Add-ons. You can build a collection using the same platform and account that comes with you each time you upgrade to the latest game.

Can I transfer games or add-ons to another platform?

No, on most platforms you cannot transfer your purchases to another platform. Please check out our support article for more information: Can I Transfer Games or Add-Ons to a Different Platform?

What is Backwards Compatibility?

Backwards compatibility is the ability to use an add-on you have purchased with an older game than it was sold for. This concept was first introduced with Train Sim World 3 and ended with Train Sim World 5.

Starting with Train Sim World 6, add-ons are no longer backward compatible with older games.

Which add-ons have been removed from sale?

Caltrain Branded Add-Ons

The following Caltrain branded add-ons were removed from sale when the licence expired on 27th February 2025. These add-ons were later re-released for Train Sim World 6 as unbranded products.

MP36PH-3C ‘Baby Bullet’ Loco Add-On

Nahverkehr Dresden

This add-on was effectively replaced by Bahnstrecke Leipzig - Dresden which is a bigger and better version of the route. It is no longer available for purchase individually, but it comes with Leipzig - Dresden to enable layers on older routes.

Which add-ons don't upgrade?

Train Sim World

The following add-ons were built on a very early version of the game, and when we came to upgrade the internal engine it wasn't possible to bring these add-ons forward. Therefore, they remain exclusive to the original Train Sim World.

New Journeys Expansion (TSW 2)

After Train Sim World 2 the New Journeys Expansion was split into 3 separate add-ons. Purchasing the original TSW 2 release will entitle you to all 3 add-ons in more recent games.

Southeastern BR Class 465 EMU Add-On (TSW 2)

After Train Sim World 2 this add-on was integrated into the Southeastern High Speed Route Add-on.

Upgrading add-ons from a disc?

If your add-ons were included on a disc, please Submit a Request and choose the Product Keys Claims form to upgrade your add-ons.

Downloading and Upgrading Add-ons

Upgrading an add-on is automatic in most cases. Therefore, it is simply a process of downloading the latest version of the add-on. However, there are a few extra steps required on PlayStation consoles, so please take your time to read through the information provided.
