This article is designed to help players restore their profile from a backup, if their profile was corrupted by a crash or sudden loss of power. Unfortunately, this cannot help you if your saved data has been lost or deleted.
For every profile created in the game, a backup will be periodically updated. This process will describe how to rename the backup file, in order for it to be become accessible in-game.
Your saved data is typically found under \\Documents\My Games\, then in the folder named after the game you are playing. Within the game folder (e.g. \\Documents\My Games\TrainSimWorld6\) you will find the SaveGames folder. This is where your profiles and backups are kept.
The profile files start with "PP_" and the backup files start with "BAK_". This is typically followed by a unique string of numbers and letters representing your profile (e.g. PP_c8b8f2fed069991623b6a4971fbb45c9). Each profile will have a matching backup file with the same string of numbers and letters.
Unfortunately, you can't see the name of the profile outside of the game, but the Date Modified column in File Explorer should help you see when a file was last used. If your profile has recently been corrupted, it should be the most recently modified file beginning with "PP_".
Once you've identified the corrupt profile and it's backup, rename the file and replace "PP_" with "OLD_" to prevent it from being loaded by the game.
Then we can convert the backup into an active profile by simply renaming the file and changing "BAK_" to "PP_".
After this, you can launch the game and your backup profile should be loaded. You may lose a small amount of progress by loading the backup, but this is certainly better than starting over.
